The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

A refrigerant is a liquid that is stored in your AC coils, which help cool and dehumidify the indoor air. If we didn’t have refrigerants, we wouldn’t have air conditioning. Over the years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce as a result of its destructive impact to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo lessen environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now designed to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and is free of chlorine, which means it’s ozone-friendly. You can feel great about using this refrigerant in Indian River County because it’ll help make your system operate efficiently, reliably and quietly, and deliver the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was manufactured before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You might investigate upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is ultimately phased out. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to run your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Custom Air Systems Inc work with R-410A, so you can rest assured we have an AC or heat pump that better meets your needs. You should also avoid”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
